Job Duties:
- Independent work on research projects in cooperation with industry partners
- Development of process models for polymer processing, with a particular focus on injection molding
- Further development of inline-capable process measurement technology
- Application of machine learning methods
- Supervision of Bachelor's, Master's, and Diploma theses
- Active involvement in teaching within the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in Polymer Engineering
- Writing and contributing to scientific publications for international peer-reviewed journals and participation in relevant international conferences
- Willingness to learn, apply, and establish new methods and approaches
- Support in acquiring externally funded research projects
- Taking responsibility for laboratory and research equipment
Your Qualifications:
- The candidate must have a completed university degree (Diploma/MSc) in a technical or scientific discipline with a focus on polymer processing, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related field
- High level of motivation, commitment, and ability to work independently in research, development, and teaching
- Very good written and spoken German and English skills (minimum B2 level)
- Experience in the following areas is expected:
- Application of process knowledge in injection molding
- Independent operation of injection molding machines
- Characterization of material properties of polymers (rheology, thermodynamics, etc.)
- Modeling or simulation of manufacturing processes in polymer processing
- Inline, online, and in-situ process sensing; control and automation engineering
- Programming and data analysis
- Preparation and publication of research articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, preferably as first author
- Ideally, you have knowledge of or initial experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Planning, conducting, and evaluating scientific experiments, as well as analyzing complex datasets
- Numerical simulation of transport phenomena using Ansys Polyflow, Ansys Fluent, Moldex3D, or comparable software
- Programming, particularly in Python and MATLAB
- Sensor technology and measurement data acquisition in injection molding production cells
- Control and automation engineering for injection molding machines
- Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in a scientific and research context
- Machine learning or statistical data analysis using Python or MATLAB
- Modeling and simulation of technical systems (e.g., CFD, FEM, or digital twins)
- Conducting research and development projects in an industrial environment
