Your tasks:
- Independent scientific research in the field of dynamic meteorology with a focus on synoptic scales and storm tracks Acquisition of new research projects Publications in internationally recognised media
- Collaboration in teaching
- Supervision of students
- Collaboration in the context of academic self-administration
- Collaboration in the development and maintenance of the working group's software library
Your profile:
- Doctorate in a discipline of atmospheric sciences (such as meteorology, atmospheric physics, climatology) or a related discipline
- Sound knowledge of dynamic meteorology, especially on synoptic scales
- Knowledge of extratropical storms, jet streams and storm tracks is an advantage
- Knowledge of the interaction between weather and climate variability is an advantage
- Knowledge of diabatic processes, especially wet diabatic processes, and their influence on synoptic and planetary scales advantageous
- Ability to combine theory with data analysis of numerical simulations, reanalyses, or climate models an advantage
- Broad programming skills in at least one high-level programming language Knowledge of Fotran and Python an advantage
- Knowledge of the use of high-performance computing is an advantage
- Commitment to the planning, implementation and management of scientific projects
- Good written and spoken communication skills in English - command of German is an advantage
- Experience in university teaching; competence in supervising students; didactic competence
- Communication and teamwork skills
