Job Description:

Main duties:

  • Independent research in the field of British/anglophone (not US-American) literary studies
  • Implementation of a postdoc research project in this field
  • Publication and conference activities
  • Application for third-party funding
  • Independent teaching of courses in different periods and genres in all curricula (BA English and American Studies, MA English and American studies, BA and MA teacher training)
  • Supervision of BA theses
  • Administrative support
  • Participation in research projects at the department and in the University’s research centres

Necessary qualifications:

  • Completed doctorate (PhD) in British/Anglophone literary studies (with above-average result)
  • Evident research competence in the field of British/Anglophone literary studies
  • Excellent didactic abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team; high capacity for independent work and demonstrable organisational skills
  • Good German language skills (at least B2) and excellent English language skills (C2)

Desirable:

  • Experience with teaching in higher education
  • Ideally research interests in postcolonial studies, studies of migration or early modern studies
