What matters to us

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Civil/Structural Drafting, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of total experience as a Draftsman.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Structural Draftsman.
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D); familiarity with Civil 3D or Revit Structure is an advantage.
• Familiarity with the structural provisions of Gulf/Oman Highway Standards and related design codes.
• Solid experience in the preparation of working and detailed construction drawings, including:

1. Retaining walls
2. Culverts
3. Rigid pavement
4. Slope protection works

• Proven experience in preparation of Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and quantity take-offs.

Job Purpose

Produce accurate, detailed, and contract-compliant structural and civil construction drawings for road infrastructure projects. The Senior Draftsman works closely with structural and highway engineers to translate design intent into working drawings, reinforcement details, and quantity documentation, ensuring all outputs conform to applicable Gulf and Oman Highway Standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed working and construction drawings for road structures including retaining walls, culverts, rigid pavement, slope protection works, and associated ancillary structures.
• Develop reinforcement detail drawings and Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Carry out quantity take-offs from drawings to support cost estimation, material procurement, and progress measurement.
• Review and interpret design calculations, sketches, and engineering instructions to produce accurate drafting outputs.
• Coordinate with structural and highway design engineers to resolve technical queries and incorporate design revisions.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and proper filing of all drafting documentation in line with project quality management procedures.
• Ensure all drawings comply with the structural provisions of Gulf/Oman Highway Standards and relevant international codes.
• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings based on site feedback and survey data.
• Mentor and guide junior draftsmen, reviewing their outputs for accuracy and standard compliance.
