Job Description:

"Molecular Biology and Sequencing Specialist" Employment: as Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA) VwGr IIIa (20 hours/week), Institute of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck, Austria, starting January 19, 2026. Description: We are seeking a molecular biology technician with hands-on experience in sequencing technologies. The ideal candidate will be proficient in cutting‑edge molecular biology techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing workflows (e.g., Oxford Nanopore, Illumina, or similar platforms). Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and a passion for innovation in genomics are essential. Main responsibilities:

  • Molecular biology tasks
  • DNA sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore)
  • Management of user data
  • Procurement and disposal of consumables and chemicals
  • Data analysis and report preparation

Required qualifications:

  • High school diploma (Matura) or equivalent qualification
  • Training as a Technical Assistant (TA), Medical Technical Assistant (MTA), or Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or equivalent education
  • Skills in molecular biology (e.g., DNA/RNA extraction, PCR)
  • Willingness to work in the mornings (starting at 8:00 AM) is desirable
  • Teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organizational talent

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with DNA sequencing (e.g., Oxford Nanopore)
