Job Description:

Your tasks:

• Specialised supervision of the historical collections as well as coordination and strategic development of the work areas of the Special Collections Department
• Cataloguing, research in the field of historical book and library history as well as conception and support of projects
• Coordination of service operations and general administrative tasks
• Communication with university and non-university partners and representation of the organisational unit in specialist committees

Your profile:

• Completed diploma or master's degree in a relevant humanities subject or equivalent qualification
• Doctorate desirable
• Additional qualification in the field of old books and/or several years of relevant professional experience an advantage
• Ideally proven knowledge in the field of historical auxiliary sciences and sub-areas of the old book (especially palaeography, codicology)
• Very good knowledge of cataloguing and metadata standards for historical collections
• Experience in dealing with historical book collections, their cataloguing and conservation is an advantage
• Experience in communicating historical collections in research, teaching and the public is desirable
• Ideally knowledge of (digital) research infrastructures
• IT user knowledge
• Project management skills (especially in the area of third-party funding)
• Relevant research and publication experience
• Very good knowledge of German, English and Latin (incl. Intermediate and modern Latin). Further foreign language skills an advantage
• Ability to work in a team, personal responsibility, commitment
• Organisational and communication skills
