Job Description:

University Assistant - PhD Position (20 hours/week - upon presentation of the dissertation agreement, the employment level will be increased to 30 hours/week), Institute of Mathematics, starting 1 March 2026 for 4 years. Main tasks: Dissertation in the field of probability theory; independent research in the field of probability theory; Independent teaching and supervision of students; Scientific publications; Training and further education; Administrative tasks. Required qualifications: Excellent bachelor's degree and master's (or Dimplom) degree in mathematics; Master's thesis on a topic in statistical mechanics or a closely related field of probability theory; Enthusiasm for research, especially in the field of statistical mechanics; Experience in working with students; Independence, ability to work in a team and good communication skills; Ability to collaborate with researchers in applied disciplines; Your application should be one pdf file consisting of a letter of motivation, a CV, a summary of research directions you would like to pursue during your PhD or have already pursued (max. 2 pages), and the names of two people who can write a reference letter for you.
