Your tasks:

• Research in the field of synchronic and diachronic English linguistics, especially in the field of multilingualism; supporting the team in English linguistics; acquisition of third‑party funding. Close cooperation with the other branches in the department (language proficiency, cultural studies, and literary studies) is expected, as well as participation in faculty and interfaculty research networks.
• Teaching courses in the Bachelor's programme in English/American Studies, Master's programme in English/American Studies, BA and MA teacher training in English, primarily in the areas of English as a second and third language, English as a lingua franca, and English in language contact situations. Supervision of students and final theses (BA).
• Contributing to organisational and administrative tasks of the department.

Your profile:

• Above‑average completion of doctoral studies (PhD/Dr.phil.) in the field of English linguistics; high level of research competence in the field of applied synchronic English linguistics (focus on multilingualism research) as shown by publications and presentations.
• Experience in tertiary education; Language skills: English C2, German at least B1; postdoctoral research project in the field of English linguistics (concept paper to be submitted with application); Strong communicative and social skills.
• Desirable: one of the following additional areas of specialisation: media linguistics, cognitive linguistics, psycholinguistics.
