Job Description:

Your tasks:

• Dissertation on dwarf galaxies in the field of galaxy formation and evolution
• Independent research on dwarf galaxies using imaging and spectroscopic data
• Development, implementation and application of methods for the analysis of data on dwarf galaxies
• Contributions to international collaborations (especially Euclid and ARRAKIHS)
• Scientific evaluation of mission/observation data
• Participation in meetings and conferences
• Working in scientific collaborations
• Independent organisation of courses, teaching and supervision of students
• Scientific publications and participation in scientific telescope proposals
• Education and training
• Administrative tasks

Your profile:

• Completed relevant Master's, Magister or Diploma degree in physics, astronomy or astrophysics
• Experience in analysing observational data in extragalactic astrophysics, preferably with regard to imaging and spectroscopic data of dwarf galaxies
• Interest in working within large collaborations
• Confident handling of Linux-based data analysis
• Good knowledge of statistical data analysis
• Excellent knowledge of English
• Ability to work in project teams
• Creative problem solving skills
• Good self-management
• Good presentation skills
