University Assistant (PhD position)
Start date/duration:
- as soon as possible
- for 3 years
Administrative unit:
- Department of Physical Chemistry
Extent of employment:
- 20 hours per week; will be increased to 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed
Job Description:
Your tasks:
- Independent research using low-temperature ultra-high-vacuum scanning tunnelling microscopy/atomic force microscopy (STM/AFM)
- Independent teaching
- Training and further education
- Administrative tasks
- Participation in supervision of work and publication activities
Your profile:
- Completed relevant Master's, Magister or Diplom degree in chemistry, physics or materials and nanosciences
- Relevant prior knowledge in several of the following areas: Low temperature ultra-high vacuum scanning tunnelling microscopy/scanning force microscopy, Kelvin probe force microscopy, surface physics and chemistry
- Please enclose written reflections on your dissertation project with your application (max. 5 pages)
- didactic and organisational talent;
- ability to work in a team
- good communication skills and willingness to co-operate;

The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for 20 hours per week amounts to € 1.857 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be increased to € 2.785 for 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed and sent to the Personnel Department. The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before.
