University Assistant (PhD position)

Extent of employment:

• 20 hours per week; will be increased to 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed

Job Description:

Your tasks:

• Independent research using low-temperature ultra-high-vacuum scanning tunnelling microscopy/atomic force microscopy (STM/AFM)
• Independent teaching
• Training and further education
• Administrative tasks
• Participation in supervision of work and publication activities

Your profile:

• Completed relevant Master's, Magister or Diplom degree in chemistry, physics or materials and nanosciences
• Relevant prior knowledge in several of the following areas: Low temperature ultra-high vacuum scanning tunnelling microscopy/scanning force microscopy, Kelvin probe force microscopy, surface physics and chemistry
• Please enclose written reflections on your dissertation project with your application (max. 5 pages)
• didactic and organisational talent;
• ability to work in a team
• good communication skills and willingness to co-operate;

The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for 20 hours per week amounts to € 1.857 per month (14 times)*. The salary will be increased to € 2.785 for 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed and sent to the Personnel Department. The salary will be higher if you have worked in a similar position before.
