University Assistant (postdoc)

Job Description:

Your tasks:

  • independent research and publication activities in the field of evolution of plant populations with a focus on genomics as well as support in the continuation of LTER projects (long-term ecological research)
  • independent teaching of courses on evolution, biodiversity, biogeography and vegetation science in the Master's programme in Botany and the Bachelor's programme in Biology; supervision of Bachelor's theses and (co-)supervision of Master's theses
  • collaboration in organisational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • completed relevant doctoral or PhD programme
  • practical experience in analysing genomic datasets in the field of evolutionary research as evidenced by publications
  • practical experience in generating and analysing vegetation data
  • excellent knowledge of the flora and vegetation of the Alps
  • physical aptitude for working in high alpine terrain and for leading excursions in alpine areas
  • proven independent publication experience
  • excellent written and spoken English
  • command of the German language to an extent that allows the organisation of German-language courses within two years
  • proven teaching expertise is desirable
  • reliability, communication and teamwork skills
  • experience with the acquisition and administration of research projects is desirable
  • social competence

The minimum gross salary (stipulated by collective agreement) for this position amounts to € 4.933 per month (14 times)*.
