University Assistant (PhD position)

Start date/duration:

  • from 15.09.2025
  • for 4 years

Administrative unit:

  • Department of Organic Chemistry

Extent of employment:

  • 20 hours per week; will be increased to 30 hours per week once the dissertation agreement has been signed

Job Description:

Your tasks:

  • Synthesis and synthetic methodology
  • Independent realisation of scient. Research in the context of the dissertation
  • Own teaching and participation in teaching for students of chemistry and pharmacy (exercises, lectures, seminars)
  • Supervision of students
  • Training and further education
  • Participation in organisational and administrative tasks, in particular equipment support

Your profile

  • Completed relevant Master's, Magister or Diplom degree; sound knowledge of modern natural product synthesis (total synthesis) and synthetic methodology; knowledge in the field of spectroscopy of complex molecules (NMR, IR); experience in the field of transition metal catalysis and cascade reactions
  • Expertise in dealing with students; ability to work in a team in teaching and research; creative problem-solving skills. Personal responsibility; please enclose a letter of motivation and written reflections on your dissertation project with your application (max. 5 pages)
