University Assistant (postdoc)
Job Description:
Your tasks:
- Independent research activities with a focus on protein engineering and the development of novel expression/selection systems for the expression of recombinant proteins
- Independent organisation of courses and holding of examinations
- Supervision of students incl. Supervision of bachelor theses; if required, co-supervision of master's and diploma theses as well as PhD theses
- Assumption of research, teaching and management tasks
Your profile:
- Completed scientific studies (PhD. Or Dr.rer.nat. In biology/chemistry or related field);
- Experience in the field of expression of recombinant proteins; selection of proteases using the PROFICS method (PRotease Optimisation via Fusion-Inhibited Carbamoyltransferase-based Selection)
- In-depth knowledge of molecular biology, DNA and protein biochemistry (incl. Chromatography and protein purification (IMAC, SEC), activity assays of proteases/enzymes and design of plasmids for protein expression, gel electrophoresis, error prone PCR, overlap extension PCR, PRIMER design, site directed mutation, golden gate cloning, cultivation of bacterial cells
- Desirable qualifications: Experience in mass spectrometry (e.g. Analysis of mass spectrometric data) and programming skills (R, Python, PyMol) are desirable
- Communication and teamwork skills, demonstrated by supervision of successful bachelor/master theses and technical assistants in scientific teams
- Excellent written and spoken English skills, demonstrated by publications
