The Doctoral Candidate will be hired for two 18 months periods as part of the “Bridging Models at Different Scales To Design New Generation Fuel Cells for Electrified Mobility (BLESSED)” project which is funded through HORIZON - MSCA GRANT No / 101072578.  The doctoral candidate will be enrolled in the PhD program of the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (Slovenia), in the 2nd 18 month period accommodated in Ljubljana, with adjusted general conditions according to the MSCA regulations for DCs.

The position is based on a funded European project which has different eligibility criteria. Applicants can be of any nationality and must hold a Master of Science degree in engineering, relevant to the projects topics. They need to fully respect the following eligibility criteria: 

• Must be doctoral candidates, i.e. not already in possession of a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment 
• Must undertake transnational mobility. Researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Austria for more than 12 months within the 36 months immediately before their date of recruitment. Compulsory national service, short stays such as holidays, and time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention are not taken into account.
   

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Model and simulate the mechanical membrane degradation of PEM fuel cells which is influenced by multiple stressors, such as membrane humidity and its gradients, temperature, pressure difference and bipolar plate compression.
   

YOUR PROFILE:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Computational Physics
• Good experience with CFD and system simulation tools
• Background on Finite Element Methods

Annual Remuneration: Due to the Austrian Equal Treatment Act we are obligated to state the annual gross remuneration (full-time) for this position as a basis for negotiation: €53,610.00. The Employee will be classified according to the Collective Agreement for Employees of Industry (Collective Bargaining Agreement of the Automotive Industry). We will, in any case, offer market-conforming payment taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
