Your Tasks

Position Summary:

This position will require ideal candidate to participate in daily hands-on machining activities for operations. This position is responsible for managing the schedule and activities of members of the management team, as well as fulfilling various duties that contribute to the smooth operation of day-to-day activities. 

The key responsibilities of this new role will include:

• Perform the initial tooling, fixturing and part set-up.  Verifying and approving the programs.
• Ability to do multi-setups and operations in a jobbing shop environment.  Ability to multi-task and run CNC equipment concurrently.
• Advise on the design of fixtures and selection of cutting tools.
• Identify and rectify errors before running the machine.
• Review specifications to determine set up procedure, machining sequence and dimensions of finished product.
• Blue print reading, creating process sheets and sketches to assist in set-ups.
• Responsible for operator training.  Participate and support cross training.  Provide guidance and direction to machine operator.
• Identify and implement machining process improvements and efficiency.
• Inspect and self-verify machined parts in accordance to working drawing and tolerances.
• De-burrs and marks components.
• Ability to machine to tight tolerance.
• Assist in creating programs (2D, 3D and 5D) using a CAM system (Mastercam).  Responsible for editing programs.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Your Profile

Required skills and/or experience:

•  10+ years machining and set-up experience.
•  3+ years of 2D, 3D and 5 axis programming.
•  Minimum 3 years working experience preferably in manufacturing environment.
•  Strong command of English Language both written and verbal is a must.
• Excellent communication skills; both oral and written.
• Excellent understanding of tooling, machining and material properties.
• Machine maintenance and repair skills would be an asset.

  Education:

  High School Diploma, College Technician / Technologist graduate preferred.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and able to work well unsupervised.
• Shifts: Candidates must be willing to work shifts as needed including: days, afternoons and nights.
