Your Tasks

Initially, the primary focus of this role will be to develop global material purchasing specifications and to establish a global quality system within the vSM oil & gas segment and frameworks for high-quality production processes, necessary for producing goods in accordance with customers' needs on a stable and reliable high-quality level.

The Global Technical Service Manager’s core responsibilities will include:

  • Working with Global Sales Team as support for customer's technical questions
  • Promote vSM Global distribution technical abilities in the O&G market
  • Work with each vSM distribution location on joint technical sales calls with OEMs, machine shops, and principles globally
  • Work with customers to solve engineering problems with materials
  • Work with Global Sales team to develop technical marketing materials for Oil and Gas materials and applications
  • Maintain a high level relationship with key suppliers and work jointly on technical topics
  • Support vSM Technical team during Audits by customers
  • Support/Conduct Technical Audits of suppliers as required by API 20J/ISO 9001-2015
  • Align the quality systems at each Oil and Gas location to the same quality system
  • Manage the Global Quality team to develop global material specifications, processes, and procedures
  • Introduce and maintain global technical customer specification database
  • Work with the Global Inventory Manager to make certain all material meets customer requirements and inform of any changes to industry standards and the effects on current inventories
  • Work on technical committees at NACE, API, ASM, ASTM, etc. for standards for distribution and materials stocked by vSM
  • OTC, NACE, API, ASM, LAGCOE, GPS, and other Global Oil and Gas shows exhibited by voestalpine Oil and Gas;
  • Work with Global Sales team to promote the Additive Manufacturing (AM) activities on oil and gas to provide custom solutions for O&G customers
  • Supports global voestalpine High Performance Metals AM facilities involved with the oil and gas segment
  • Provide training to oil and gas staff as well as customers on new products
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Your Profile

The position needs a technically strong and focused individual who understands the O&G industry, relevant material (and services) in the industry and even more important its key applications. The incumbent is required to plan, work and continuously improve within established Company policies and deadlines and under minimal supervision.  Above all, it needs a focused and driven individual with demonstrated success working well with internal stakeholders to build the global quality system fast.

Ideal Experience

  • Business or technical university degree
  • 5+ years’ experience including technical quality, metallurgical  quality, supervisory responsibility with proven leadership record
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a leader
  • Ability to work in a team environment across all disciplines
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation and training skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
